Hey! What's with the name change?
Many of you know us as "Sweet Potato Prints"... well, it's still us!! In the spring of 2008, along with our spring/summer collection of prints, we launched a sparkling
new name - Potato Playground! After our "Martha" experience we learned a lot about who we are, and more about our fabulous customers. We feel "Potato
Playground" suits us and our product to a tee, and the image we'd like our company to exhibit: playful, fresh and fun! Thank you for passing along our good news
(and our new web address!!)!
There are prints on your website that are not on your Order page - can I still order those?
Yes! Please go to www.potatoplayground.etsy.com and view selections from our past seasons' prints. We have about 30 prints total as we add new prints and retire
old prints twice a year (to keep things seasonal and fresh!). If you don't see what you want on this site, check us out on Etsy (the site for all things hand-made)!
Will the shirts shrink?
No, they shouldn't shrink. We have pre-washed the shirts before printing and if you wash in warm, they still shouldn't shrink.
Tell me more about your t-shirt manufacturer.
We are very pleased to have found a sweatshop-free shirt wholesaler, American Apparel, that not only cares about the high quality of their clothing, but also cares
about social and environmental responsibility. While creating innovative garments, American Apparel is striving to pioneer a movement in human rights and
environmental responsibility through ground breaking methods and policies. Not only are all of their shirts made in their downtown Los Angeles factory (avoiding
outsourcing to sweatshops), but all workers are fairly compensated, given health and dental insurance, even free massages at the workplace. The company plans to
expand its "Sustainable" line of organic clothing, which we hope to include in our line in the future.
What makes your shirts unique?
Each of our shirts are made by hand by either Amy, Heidi or Karen - all stay-at-home-moms who live in upstate New York. We started making these prints for gifts
and our own children, and realized that people really appreciated the "boutique" look and quality of our designs. We really use potatoes to make each print
(sometimes several potatoes for each shirt!), so each shirt will have a slightly different look. The grain of the potato also adds a charming effect to the paint when
applied.
Do you sell wholesale to retailers?
At this time, we are not accepting new wholesale clients. Please email us at potatoplayground@gmail.com if you would like to be updated. We currently are proud to
be selling to stores in Brooklyn and West Nyack, NY as well as in Easton, MD and Door County, WI, Ontario, Canada and North Carolina!
Where can I buy prints from your past collections or seasons?
Look for more prints at www.potatoplayground@etsy.com, the place to buy all things hand-made! We like to keep our print collections fresh and inspiring, so we
introduce a new collection twice a year, usually in the fall and spring. Not to fear, our past collections are still for sale at Etsy - enjoy!
Do you do gift-wrapping?
Yes, all orders come gift-wrapped, free of charge! Amy, a graphic designer by trade, has created some fancy packaging and
labels which we feel really pull a gift together. Each shirt has a distinctive label and is rolled and wrapped in bright green
tissue paper, fastened at each end by a festive ribbon. A hot-pink Potato Playground label finishes the package.
You can take your order out of the box and bring it right to the party!
Will the prints wash off?
No. We use quality fabric paint that will withstand even stain stick!
There may be a slight “mellowing” of the colors after the first wash (we think this actually looks nice!).
I’m buying for an infant. Any suggestions for choosing a size?
When choosing a size for an infant, here’s a good rule of thumb...
Consider adding one to two months to baby’s current age and choose
that size. Additionally, since our shirts tend to run small, please order one size above what you calculate. Thanks! You can always contact us if you have doubts
about what size would be best!
What’s your return policy?
We will be happy to accept any returned unworn item. Just send back the
item at your own expense and we will refund your money.
How soon will my order ship? How do you ship?
Most orders ship two weeks from date of order (or sooner!). Occasionally we run
out of stock on a particular size, which could possibly delay an order,
but we will do our best to get it to you as soon as possible. Our
preferred shipping method is US Postal Priority Mail.
Please let us know in the "comments" section of our order page if you need your prints sooner.
We will do everything we can to get them to you as soon as possible.
I like your prints, but I'd like something different.
Can you make custom designs?
We can't seem to stop thinking of new prints and will be adding new designs seasonally. We are happy to have your suggestions for our seasonal selections! Also,
we have printed unique designs for family reunions, etc. and will consider inquiries for large orders of a new design. Send us an email and we'll chat!
